Impact of Military Spending, April 11th
When: Thursday, April 11th, 7 - 9 PM
Where: CU Boulder, Humanities Room 1B80
We will discuss the impact of military spending on climate change and health care. Martin Luther King Jr. said about Vietnam "America would never invest the necessary funds or energies in rehabilitation of its poor so long as adventures like Vietnam continued to draw men and skills and money like some demonic destructive suction tube.” The same warning applies to addressing the threats of climate change and providing services including health care and higher education to the population of the U.S. When everything is added together the US. spends more than 50% of its discreationary spending on miltarism. How can we solve the problems that people are struggling with if we pour all of our resources into war? How can we address climate change if we continue to fuel it with never-ending war and divert needed resources away from solving the climate crisis?
