Job Description
Part-time bookkeeper needed for 501(c)3 nonprofit in Boulder which works to cultivate peace and justice locally and globally. Ideal candidate feels inspired to work passionately in this supporting role to help achieve our mission, and shares the values expressed in our mission statement. Workload can range from 5-15 hours per week, with rare opportunities to exceed 15 hours. Fluctuations in workload are due to monthly and annual work cycles, special events, occasional special projects, etc. Base pay rate is $17.50 /hour, negotiable based on experience. Mileage is reimbursed at the IRS going rate.
Responsibilities Include:
Process AR, AP as requested by staff
Receive cash and check deposits, and bring deposits to bank weekly
Manage and process payroll twice per month for up to 7 employees
Screen payments to independent contractors for compliance with CO Dept of Labor
Serve as primary point of contact for up to 5 fiscal sponsor groups
Manage AR, AP, and bank transfers for up to 5 fiscal sponsor groups
Maintain fiscal sponsor groups’ MOUs, communicate with RMPJC’s attorney and/or CPA as needed
Monthly reconciliation of up to 12 bank accounts
Monthly reconciliation of donations through Colorado Gives, Network for Good, PayPal, Square
Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly Spokescouncil and Fundraising meetings
Maintain physical and digital files of organization’s financial and regulatory records
File monthly sales tax returns, payroll reports
File annual/quarterly reports with Secretary of State, IRS, and CO Dept of Labor
Assist CPAs as needed with preparation of data for filing Form 990
Provide monthly and ad hoc financial reports for Spokescouncil members and fiscal sponsor groups
Prepare annual budget with input from staff and Spokescouncil members
Track budget versus actual expenses and provide monthly report to Spokescouncil
Assist with filing ad hoc financial reports or payroll audits as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years nonprofit bookkeeping experience
2 years payroll and basic HR experience
Experience with Quickbooks (QB Online preferred)
Experience with Sales Force
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong organizational and time management skills
Intermediate Excel skills, advanced skills preferred
Familiarity with basic state and federal labor laws, and willingness to research new information as needed
Experience working with fiscal sponsorships preferred
Familiarity with federal 501(c)3 requirements and CO SOS Charitable Organization status preferred
