Supreme Court Rules Against Petition Signatures by Mail or Email
Press Release 7/1/2020: DENVER - Safe & Healthy Colorado is deeply saddened by today's Colorado Supreme Court decision to reject emergency rules allowing the collection of petition signatures by mail or email. The campaign shares the disappointment of thousands of Coloradans who had already acted in the past week to sign the petition to place Initiative 174 on the ballot and who learned today that the Court has nullified a safe alternative to petitioning in the midst of a pandemic.
Initiative 174 would create 2,500-foot safety zones to protect homes, schools, water sources, and other vulnerable areas from the serious health risks associated with close proximity to fracking operations. The Colorado Supreme Court's decision leaves no safe and healthy path to collect signatures and access the ballot while our state continues to battle the threat of COVID-19.
Our team continues to organize, please click the link above to Pledge to Sign. We will keep you posted about next steps and how we can best work together to see this fight through to the finish!
