Video from: Prospects for Peace Between NATO/U.S. and Russia with German Activist/Author

Date: Friday, March 3

Time: 7-9 p.m.

Place: Eaton Humanities, Room 250 at CU, Boulder

Many experts believe that tensions between the U.S. and Russia are at their highest level since the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962. The dangers of a nuclear war, accidental or intentional, have greatly increased since the end of the Cold War. Mr. Reiner Braun will discuss the deterioration of relations between the West and Russia and suggest actions that could be taken to improve the situation.

Mr. Braun comes from a distinguished background. He is currently the Co-President of the International Peace Bureau (https://www.ipb2016.berlin/) in Berlin Germany and the Executive Director of the International Network of Engineers and Scientists for Global Responsibility and of the Scientists for Peace and Sustainability (Germany).

He has also worked at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin and for the Max Planck Society, as the Executive Director of the International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms Germany and as the Executive Director for the Vereinigung Deutscher Wissenschaftler (VDW), the German Pugwash group. The Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs is an international organization that brings together scholars and public figures to work toward reducing the danger of armed conflict and to seek solutions to global security threat.

Mr. Braun has written several books, including Einstein and Peace and a biography of the Peace Nobel Laureate, Joseph Rotblat.

The event is free and sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center. For more information, please contact carolyn@rmpjc.org or 720-509-3378.
