Peaceful Rally at CDPHE, August 30th

When: Thursday, August 30th, 12 pm Where: 4300 Cherry Creek Drive South, Denver We are rallying at CDPHE to practice mindfulness and build communication with staff and visitors. Please bring scientific/historical documentation, signs, flowers, etc. to show why we need more protective public health policies regarding Rocky Flats. We will be practicing compassionate communication with our message to Keep Kids Off Rocky Flats.

4th Annual Summer Picnic, August 31st

When: Friday, August 31st, 4 pm - Sunset Where: Eben G. Fine Park, 101 Arapahoe Ave It's that time of year again! Join RMPJC for our 4th annual summer picnic. Bring your friends, dogs, outdoor games, and musical instruments. We will offer vegan snacks and refreshments, largely donated from local, organic farms. Anti-War Demonstration, September 1st

When: Saturday, September 1st, 11am - 12pm Where: Canyon and Broadway, Boulder, CO We'll carry signs opposing wars against Russia, Syria, North Korea, Afghanistan, etc. Let's be visible in our opposition to war! We'll have some signs or bring your own. More info carolyn@rmpjc.org or 720-509-3378. We'll hold anti-war demonstrations most (but not all) Saturdays. Watch our emails for the announcements. The demo will be cancelled in the event of the following weather: snow, rain, high winds or a temperature below 30 degrees by 10 am

Veterans for Peace Meeting, September 9th

When: Sunday, September 9th, 6 pm Where: First United Methodist Church, 1421 Spruce St, Boulder Our September speakers will be Carolyn Bninski and Ron Forthofer. They will talk about all the different projects that RMPJC has going on. Potluck dinner at 6pm. Speakers at 7pm.

RMPJC Member Discussion: Policy on U.S. military conscription and compulsory national service, Augus

When: Thursday, August 23rd, 6 - 7:45 Where: Arapahoe Room, Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave We are asking our members for input toward creating RMPJC policy on U.S. military conscription and compulsory national service including a military service option. This will NOT be the meeting at which a final wording of the RMPJC policy is arrived at and approved. Our goal is to have a policy completed by Sept. 30 as testimony to the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service. *Note this discussion is for RMPJC members. Membership dues consist of a $40 annual donation. Please follow this link to donate $40 and become a member today.

Boulder City Council Hearing on Sister City, August 23rd

When: Thursday, August 23rd, 6 - 8 pm Where: Boulder Municipal Building, 1777 Broadway Boulder City Council hearing on making Ramat HaNegev a sister city. This would be an Israeli-Boulder Sister City. Signup time for speakers begins at 5 pm and will end when the meeting starts at approximately 6:15-6:30 pm. You must be present to signup.

Update: RMPJC v USFWS Lawsuit

CLICK HERE TO TAKE ACTION TODAY TO PREVENT THE OPENING OF ROCKY FLATS Judge Brimmer did not rule in our favor to halt construction at the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge while the RMPJC v USFWS lawsuit is in session. He acknowledges the health risks of opening the refuge and we are still optimistic that we can win the case to keep Rocky Flats closed! While the case continues on, the US Fish and Wildlife Service plans to open the Rocky Flats Wildlife Refuge for public recreation on September 15th of this year. Time is of the essence. Dark Circle Film Screening, August 8th

When: Wednesday, August 8th, 8 pm Where: Trident Booksellers and Café, 940 Pearl St Join us this Wednesday for a screening of the newly remastered film, Dark Circle. Winner of the Grand Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and recipient of a national Emmy Award, DARK CIRCLE follows the trail of plutonium from the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons facility in Colorado, to the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in California, to Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan.
