Convene in community celebrating our care for the world and capacity for personal and relational resilience. Joanna Macy's root work, The Work That Reconnects is a practical, open-source, ever-evolving toolkit that anyone can use to build the stress-resilience, authentic community, and systems thinking needed in order to bring the change we wish to see in the world.

Facilitated by Kathleen Sullivan, PhD.

Kathleen Sullivan, PhD, is a long time student of Joanna Macy and Work That Reconnects facilitator. She has been engaged in the nuclear issue for nearly 30 years, and has worked internationally as an educator for disarmament focusing primarily on two distinct audiences: young people and atomic bomb survivors (hibakusha). Currently, she is the Program Director for Hibakusha Stories, an arts-based initiative that has brought atomic bomb survivors into the lives of some 30,000 New York City High Schools students. As an education consultant to the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, she developed the disarmament education web portal for the UN's Cyberschoolbus website and co-wrote with Peter Lucas Action for Disarmament: 10 Things You Can Do! (2014), recently translated into Japanese and Korean.

Bring your own lunch - our break will be very brief and is an opportunity to stay in community to make the most of our time together. There won't be much time to travel to and from the nearest cafes so we strongly encourage you to bring your own - and some to share if you feel inspired!

The Dojo (room #9180) is just down the hall to the left/north of the Nalanda Events Center, on the east side of the Nalanda campus building. Dress in layers - we can indeed adjust the HVAC, but want to ensure that everyone will be comfortable! We will also have a sound system to ensure everyone can be heard.

Naropa welcomes participants with disabilities. Please contact karta elise hassler at kehassler@naropa.edu to inquire about accessibility and disability accommodations needed to participate fully in these events.
